HOW ONE WOMAN LOST OVER 20KG WITH A DUBLIN PERSONAL TRAINER
Deirdre O’Mara joined Be Fit For Life to lose weight working with a Dublin Personal Trainer but she never could have guessed how this decision would impact all aspects of her life in such positive ways.
“When I first set out to lose weight, like so many others – I joined Weight Watchers. In fact I must have gone back and forth to Weight Watchers six or seven times. On top of that there were attempts at Slimming World, Unislim, fitness classes, aqua aerobics. You name it – I tried it.
“Sometimes these things worked but only ever for a while. I’d lose maybe a stone or a stone-and-a-half yet I always felt that others achieved better results than me, at a faster rate than me. This left me feeling frustrated and so I always gave up.
Negative
“This negative cycle continued for years. Even though I was 100kg and needed to lose weight I came up with endless excuses rather than face up to the truth.
“Fear kept holding me back. I was afraid of going to classes and looking like a fool in front of everyone else. It’s like being at a buffet – you never want to be seen as the fat person at the buffet loading your plate with food.
“That’s how I felt – the fat person in the weight-loss class who didn’t lose weight, I felt that everyone was looking at me. Most of the time I just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me.
Confidence
“I knew I wanted to make a change, I just didn’t have the confidence to believe I could do it. It took me a year to come to my decision to work with a Dublin Personal Trainer at Be Fit For Life. I talked myself out if it so many times but looking back now I wish I hadn’t wasted all that time.
“Joining Be Fit For Life has impacted all aspects of my life in such positive ways. I’ve lost over 20kg and I’m fitter and healthier but even more importantly it has shown me what I can achieve if I set my mind to it.
“Since I started training regularly, for the first time in years I sleep through the night. I have a high-pressure job and when I used to go to bed I’d usually be awake for a further hour or two.
“Nowadays I’m asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. This means I can train harder and be more focused in work.
Heineken
“I came from never having lifted anything heavier than a Heineken bottle to now bench-pressing 30lbs and leg-pressing over 125kg. I wish I had joined sooner and hadn’t wasted time when I could have been working on becoming a better version of myself.
“I would say to anyone thinking about it not to make the same mistake as me – stop procrastinating and take the leap.
“As Damien said to me on the first day I met him, it won’t be easy but it will be worth it.”
